One journalist's musings about the beautiful, bizarre world in which we live
I said goodbye to my CouchSurfing buddies in Lima this morning, and took off for the beginnings of a long trip.
In four days, I hope to be in La Paz, Bolivia. I’ll theoretically be hop-skip-jumping over the border to the capital city, where I will meet my usual travel partner.
After a nice bus ride that included a chicken-and-rice lunch and WiFi, I found myself in Nazca. I tried calling the CouchSurfer with whom I was supposed to stay, but nada.
I walked around a bit, but not wanting to go too far while carrying everything I own, I decided to stay at the Hostal Guadalupe Posada two blocks away from the bus station.
On the upside, I get to eat the Lindor chocolates I was going to give my CouchSurfer.
On the downside, I don’t have any bike ride to do tomorrow, or anyone to hang out with.
I guess I’ll get moving to Cusco more quickly.
That could be Mexico…. around Saltillo…
